Back of pin itself reads amico (the o may be a u) sterling. Clutches read sterling pat nos 2308424

The Patent Number on the clutches is for a patent dated January 12, 1943, so can’t be before then. (Naturally, this isn’t definitive since people ‘mixed’ clutches sometimes. But, it’s a start.)

It’s not Army based on small size (for collar) and non-beveled edges.   Either USN LT jg or USMC 1LT.   Most likely WW2 era.

My guess is probably navy since this came from the family and to my knowledge there were no marines in my family.
