Unknown 40mm Grenade bandolier?

What do you think?

My first guess was an M1 Carbine bandolier, the owner didn’t think so. I told him that I’d ask the USMF wizards and get him and answer.

Zero marking that we can see. Not sure if someone cut the strap at some point.

These were Experimental Grenade Bandoliers from Vietnam War I believe, one of a couple that were trialled, before the adoption of the vest.

Here's one more.

That is how the non linked 40mm ammo comes packed in those bandoliers I believe, not just experimental.  The vests were for carrying the grenades but you could find guys just slinging these at times.
