Theater made (Afghanistan) shoulder holster?

I bought this for $5 at an antique show today. This particular vendor was selling troll dolls and toys, and then there was this.

No owners name anywhere and the seller had no history. Is this legit? I don't have a Beretta M9 but my Ruger P89 and 2 15 round mags fit in it very well.

Thanks for your thoughts.

search "afghan made holsters" and others are shown. I know chest pouches were made there too. Seen holsters made in Iraq as well.

Here is a Afghan made for a TT/ Tokarev pistol. Be a nice one for a Romanian pistol I picked up.

When I was deployed to AFG, 2012-2013, holsters that didn't point the pistol down, were not allowed to be used. Some shoulder holsters point to the rear. The thought was it could fire when being drawn and would be dangerous to someone to the back of you. I don't know if it ever happened, or if it was just an abundance of caution thing.

The OP's holster is a nice find, for sure "real".

Thats interesting seeing that a number of issue holsters out there have the horizontal holster setup.  The Air Warrior modular holster system for aircrew when setup in a shoulder config points rearward as well as older generation shoulder rigs made by LBT.   I can see that making sense though as a caution,  that would be a hot weapon pointing around at people.

This was on FOB Salerno, I don't know that it was an "official" published order by anyone, I just recall being told that at some point soon after our arrival. Might have been just a local "regulation". I can see issued equipment being exempt from this "rule". On the FOB, we were not supposed to have a round in the chamber, as we left the FOB, we stopped the vehicle, everyone exited, charged their weapons in the "Clearing barrel", re-entered the vehicle and off on the mission. Upon return, we did the same thing in reverse, exited the vehicle, cleared our weapons, got back in the vehicle and moved to our area. I think we always refueled the vehicles before we went back to our area. Firearms safety was no joke, one of our SECFOR had a negligent discharge as we were prepping for a mission, prior to loading our vehicles. I heard it go off, looked over there and saw no one in the area was injured, (it think it hit the ground) and decided not to be nosy. It attracted all kinds of bad attention! We had some extra safety briefings after that! A board was convened to investigate it. I never heard the result of the findings, but since his weapon was not supposed to have a round chambered, it was totally his fault.

I liked my Blackhawk holsters for my M9, I bought two prior to deployment, one to wear on my belt, and one for the chest of my vest. You can probably see it in my avatar. We were supposed to wear "dummy cords" on our pistols also.
