phantomfixer Posted March 15, 2022 Author Share #2 Posted March 15, 2022 Sierra changed the nomenclature from Combat Vehicle crewman to Armored Vehicle Crewman on this helmet...the cut is also different than the standard CVC helmet... I hate to use the word experimental but it is unpainted...a factory test helmet?
phantomfixer Posted March 16, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted March 16, 2022 Few more pics…any thoughts? The earphones are held in place by a screw on the outside of the helmet, similar to APH-6 flight helmets
gunguy45 Posted March 18, 2022 Share #4 Posted March 18, 2022 https://archive.org/details/DTIC_AD0762565/mode/2up I found this link. See the attached screenshots, the whole text is at the link. Definitely is a "test" helmet, going off of the P/N. Dated 1973.
gitana Posted March 20, 2022 Share #5 Posted March 20, 2022 It's a prototype dated circa 1972. According to the sound attenuation and bump protection reports, it didn't do very well in testing. The photos from Natick show it looking just like that, without paint.
