Ollkorrekt37 Posted March 15, 2022 #1  Posted March 15, 2022 Hello, and here is another one of my many M1917s. Maybe I have too many but who truly knows 😄 I picked this up due to it having some interesting markings, and I haven't the slightest to what they mean, so perhaps some experts could help me on them.  It has an odd cross or emblem, I would not know what this means, maybe insignia? The rest goes as "D.I.W.C.I. U.S.A. 1 C.L.D." Every letter looked like it had full stops from how it looked under a flashlight. Maybe they're initials? A slogan? The only thing for certain is the U.S.A.!  The only other notable thing is "angel 6" written in pencil on the inside. Everything looks to be standard. ZD 75 markings, and the copper rivet appears to have a star pattern on the bottom. If anyone could tell me on the meaning of this, I'd appreciate it. Thanks again.
Bugme Posted April 5, 2022 #2 Â Posted April 5, 2022 In the twitterverse D.I.W.C.I. is an acronym for "Dream Imagine Wish Create Inspire" However, I highly doubt this was the intent of a WWI soldier. The only one that is clear is: USA, of course now I sound like Captain Obvious. Sadly, the meaning of these letters may be lost in history.
helmet841 Posted April 15, 2022 #3 Â Posted April 15, 2022 When this was first posted I thought the "cross" resembled the 82nd All American Infantry Division insignia. Today I still feel the same. The center up and down bar in the middle looks heavier than the other lines forming the rest of the design. Perhaps to separate the two A's. Of course I could be wrong. Â Steve NY
