WWII 503rd fighter SQUADRON Patch Original ?

Hello everyone, I bought this patch awhile back and was told it was a original ww2 8th air corp 503rd squadron pocket patch... I would like to know if it is good period piece...

Quite recent, think they are eBay in this style
