Tom Trevor Posted March 8, 2022 Share #1 Posted March 8, 2022 45-70 cartridge boxes have Bloomfield gilding metal noted on the label this was the copper zinc alloy for the cases bought from the Bloomfield mills in Bloomfield New Jersey. One box manufactured in 1879 has the word Manhattan in the same location as Bloomfield. No answer has been found for this but it is thought to refer to the Manhattan brass and copper company in Manhattan New York. Rare and interesting box.
