Named USMC PASGT Helmet Cover

Hello all,

So I recently bought a tri color desert camo PASGT helmet cover off of ebay. Whats really cool about this helmet cover is that it has the USMC EGA stenciled on the front of it and it has a soldiers name written on it.

The last name "Kauffman" is written on the cover on the side and back of the cover. Also written on the side of the cover below Kauffman  is "7489 O*" I am not exactly sure what those numbers mean.

The cover is dated to the year 2000.

Here is what is stamped on the inside of the cover.

“7489 O” is likely the last four of his MCSN and blood type, which is actually “O+”.

I have also found a few photos of U.S. Marines during the 2003 Invasion of Iraq and I noticed that they also have the USMC EGA on the front of their cover

Oh that's cool! What does MCSN stand for?

Hello - “MCSN” is Marine Corps Service Number.  
 

I also am compelled to mention that the combat journalist credited in the one photo, Chris Hondros, was tragically killed covering the war in Libya in 2011 - in the same incident that took the life of fellow journalist Tim Hetherington.

Excellent find. I’ve been keeping an eye out for any of the EGA USMC PASGT covers, in either woodlands or DCU. They’re a lot tougher to find that I had expected!
