Love of flags Posted February 25, 2022 Share #1  Posted February 25, 2022 Since I'm unable to attend SOS again this year. This will have to do. My most recent pick up. Love the pattern of the stars. Like the unique rings on this one. Might have won this one by complete accident. Thankful for an understanding wife.
jmd62 Posted February 25, 2022 Share #2 Â Posted February 25, 2022 Excellent addition, congrats! I'm with you, I have an understanding wife myself. :)
stratasfan Posted February 25, 2022 Share #3  Posted February 25, 2022 That is a really cool find! congrats! Do you think that would have been a service flag for a Church? I know that my GGGUncle's Church was very proud of all the Sunday School members who had ended up joining the Armed Forces for WWII and the Church kept in touch with every single one and sent them all things and organised the congregation (adults and children) to write to each young man, etc.  Thanks for sharing! dhcoleterracina Posted February 25, 2022 Share #4  Posted February 25, 2022 Great flag, well done. I've never seen one in the shape of a cross before and the thought that this was a congregation flag seems right on.
Love of flags Posted February 26, 2022 Author Share #5  Posted February 26, 2022 I would think it would be a good chance that it could be related to a church. Why else would you put it as a cross unless it was possibly as a prayerful blessing/covering/luck reason?  One of my other cross banners.

stratasfan Posted March 9, 2022 Share #7 Â Posted March 9, 2022 That second one is fabulous, too! Wow! And the single gold star . . . very moving.
Mr.Jerry Posted March 10, 2022 Share #8  Posted March 10, 2022 I have seen one as well (that I was not able to photo for my book), that the stars depicted a large fouled anchor, as part of the "faith, hope and charity" mantra. I had also won one years ago on ebay that was a blue & white with a Byzantine cross done in blue stars. But they "couldn't find it" so I never got it... Several churches I know still have the banners they flew. A few of them presented the stars back to the soldiers when they came home. Nice piece- sorry you couldn't make the show! Love of flags Posted March 10, 2022 Author Share #9  Posted March 10, 2022 My only anchor version in my collection. That stinks to have purchased something and been excited to get it and not ever receive the item. Yes life once again got in the way of me attending. Hoping for better luck for next year's show. Hoping to attend a 600 table show 3 hours from me this weekend in Oklahoma.
