Hi I am brand new to helmets and I recently bought my first M1 helmet I fought to find a heat stamp but with some help from a facebook group found an M-32A heatstamp which the guy told me meant this helmet was made in the 50s. Do any of you have any info on that or this helmet i cannot find any info online when I search it.20220215_154354.jpg.fa4f4989c3ec6a1e2043742fb524538a.jpg20220215_154601.jpg.4474eaf99d73631eb8cee099ec155509.jpg20220216_131942.jpg.04ca32a01ae823b1c4cbabbef208c45e.jpg Screenshot_20220217-114842_Facebook.jpg.3d7e5daac4af7b90f7a154d7056d2ae9.jpg

Good find! Been trying to track one of these down, you got one of an estimated 325,000 😉

Are these really that difficult to come by? I must have gotten lucky, I have at least four of them. Two with their original factory paint and green hardware chinstraps (one of which is green hardware paratrooper chinstraps!).

Not too difficult, as more than 325k was made. McCord had several contracts. First, of roughly 500k, production began around November 1951. Second, of roughly 430k, production began around august-September 1952. Third, of roughly 300k, production began march-April 1953. Fourth, a double contract of 2x 170.000, production began October 1958 and the last, 325k, began around august 1965. All contracts was won 2-5 months before production began.

That's what I was thinking. I was under the impression that McCord produced roughly one million post-WWII. I hadn't been able link production dates to heat stamps but I knew they were produced from 1951 to 1958, with a space between 1953 and 1958. Thanks for the great info!

You wouldn't be able to expound upon heat stamps and how they correlate to production, would you?

Oh wow, I never realized McCord had so many! Mind pointing me in the direction to where I can learn more? I only knew of the 1965 McCord Corp contract and the early 50s Motor Wheel Corp contract. Much appreciated 😊
