LuftStalg1 Posted February 20, 2022 Share #52 Posted February 20, 2022 Jewlers don't make mistakes like that when hand finishing. I have done plenty of that kind of work, he would be fired for calling that finished. I was going to buy it so I could photograph it and then return it if found wanting but withdrew my bid so someone else took the buy it now. I decided I will make my own for display and it will be a lot nicer then the one in question. I will share it and get some feedback on how to make it unquestionably FAKE to anyone examining it. Maybe FAKE engraved as the name or some other obvious markings that can not be removed. I will start a new "How I dun it" thread when I do it. jmpmstr Posted February 20, 2022 Share #53 Posted February 20, 2022 The discussion is thorough and detailed. IMO regardless of what seems right about it, which is nothing as far as I’m concerned…the enamel for a piece in that period is wrong. It’s not good quality, it’s too glossy or glassy, the color and tone are wrong obverse and reverse. Just compare it to unpierced period pieces. There in lies the rub for me
Dave Posted November 7, 2022 Author Share #54 Posted November 7, 2022 Here's one that just popped up on Facebook (asking $2k). It looks really nice from what I can see.
