kabar44 Posted February 10, 2022 Share #1 Posted February 10, 2022 I recently picked up named Purple Heart and named Bronze Star medals locally. I managed to find the soldier on Ancestry but am still having trouble finding his unit. His ETO medal is missing but the ribbon has 5 stars. His name was Edward A. Reith. He's also on Find a Grave but no additional information is given. Any suggestions?

AustinO Posted February 11, 2022 Share #3 Posted February 11, 2022 He was in Company H, 331st Infantry 83rd Division. Here's his citation for the Bronze Star: I also took a look at the morning reports for July and December 1944 and did not see him listed as WIA (though the hospital cards on ancestry show those dates). Not uncommon to not see listed, but would have been a "nice to have."
