This box if insignia was found with a group to a 7th Armored Division officer who was in the ETO 1944-45 and Occupation of Germany 1945-46. I thought this insignia, apparently from the same tailor, shows how the enterprising manufacturer turned quickly from making insignia for the IIIrd Reich to making for the Occupation Army.

Great grouping that shows the resiliency of the citizens of a defeated nation that were only thinking of survival after the war. As many know, many of the firms that made decorations and awards during the Third Reich period turned to making US insignia.

I think often about the firm F.W. Assmann and Sohne that made many Third Reich accoutrements and then after the war the firm was producing US insignia. I am fortunate to have many Third Reich pieces from the firm as well as several post war US insignia by the same firm... (Collar Discs, Marksman badges, etc.)

The AFRIKA cuff title is quite impressive.

Thank you for showing these

Best regards, stay safe

Just had a thought about F.W. Assmann and Sohne..

They produced a catalog for their products they made for the Third Reich.. (this catalog is quite popular with TR collectors and wartime copies as well as reprints are still available...

It would be really interesting if a catalog of US made insignia by the same firm post war existed...

Just thinking out loud..
