Hey No problem I was going go back and edit my post, I didnt want to come across as an jearkhead! , sorry if it sounded that way.

Yea I really hate those books he did, puts out alot of bad information for sure!!! The only good part of it was the AFSP since he was one he at least got that part right :)

but I agreee the maple leaf/Mitchel pattern is a pretty cool and under rated camo pattern for sure!!!!

thanks, :)

Thats the photo I was talking about of Sgt Duarte with the ARVN Rangers in 1962!!! I remember seeing that photo as a kid and based my impression on that pick. but at the time I didnt know what he was wearing on his beret so I put a field cap on him, as I recall now he was just wearing a green beret with pin back airborne wings!

thanks

paul

Pluto .

Your jacket is a one of a kind .

You ARE the lucky man .

Mike

Your trousers stump me .

It is the first time I have seen this print of this pattern .

The cut is of course US WW2 Herring bone camouflage trouser , I wonder if they are a Viet attempt at a copy ,late 50s ??

Are the buttons Viet type .?

Great colors on these bad boys .

They are rich .

Maybee Japanese as they dont look US manufactured .

These would benifit from a little inspection .

SUITE AND END

Now maybe someones know where is from and made ?????????

I don t know for you but this camo pattern have the same spirit of Mitchell (not the white bordure on the green side)

The buttons look like M51 brown buttons , the twill is migtweight with very clean camo details

Cheers jerome

A Army Signal Corps film about Advisors in Vietnam. At frame 10.59 thru 11.06 you can see the American Advisor wearing what looks like a Mitchell jacket. I may be wrong but it does not look like duck Hunter, Beogam or Tiger stripe. The film was released in December 1964 so I assume the it was filmed in the summer of 1964.

The other film is about advisors and has great shot of a SVN Army officer wearing what looks like a French copy of a British WW 2 para jacket. You see the jacket at frame 2.45

By the way I used to watch the BIG PICTURE on Sunday mornings in the pre-cable only three TV channel days of the 60s.

Brown side only used by a USAF carabou C7A enlisted crewman on missions outside of South Vietnam in 1968. He says he was issued a Green Side only as well.

He cannot find that at this time but is looking. He posted a photo of this with some other non related items on an other board. I asked him if he could take a photo of the top alone and post it. He noted the year he used it was 1968 and it was a hot uniform. Also he told me he was issued one each Duck Hunter and Tiger Stripe set.
