Veterans Administration Artifacts

Here is a small group of VA items, probably dating from the early to mid ‘60’s. The ash tray may date earlier, hard to tell. It was made by the Skokie Manufacturing Works in Chicago. The matches were made by “Universal Match, Washington, D.C.” and the VA Canteen Service coupons have a VA FORM date of Aug. 1959.

In the early 60’s, there were probably Spanish American War vets in various VA facilities, and of course, WW I, WW II, Korea and just starting to arrive, Veterans of Vietnam.

Don’t forget our Veterans!

I wonder how many of these were made.  Probably thousands for locations in every state.  Yet, I have honestly never seen VA items before.

Thanks for sharing.

And there; a long ways and about 40 years ago is one of these same items in use! Not the V.A. though, a barracks in Western Germany about 1978. Must have been a standard item across all government agencies. Some where around here I have one, if I ever come across it I'll check the bottom and see if their is a logo.
