The webbing looks like it could be a 40-50s US liner but the extra leather chin strap (with some marking) and the overall shape do not match. any idea what this thing is exactly? thx Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

One site has this listed as a Chinese civil defense helmet from the 60s, but the webbing makes me lean more towards it being Japanese. Do you have a better picture of the writing on the chinstrap? It kind of looks like Kanji, but its hard to tell. Maybe someone on here will have better luck IDing it.
