willysproject Posted January 16, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 16, 2022 Hi all, could I please ask your thoughts on this badge? What type was more common during the CW: prongs or loops on the back? Kind regards, Gerd V
268th C.A. Posted January 16, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 16, 2022 I've never seen a Civil War era one with loops, The Indian War type were smaller in size also, and were more detailed than the Civil War ones I've seen. (Enlisted) Yours appears too be missing a prong. But still a nice find. Good luck! What are the measurements.
M24 Chaffee Posted January 16, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 16, 2022 I believe that the ACW era bugles had loops. Here is a link to Harry Ridgeways reference archive. This page shows examples of ACW bugle insignia. There are photos of ones with loops and some with missing loops. https://www.relicman.com/miscellaneous/zArchiveInsigniaInfantry.htm Frank
