1890's USMC photo, help ID EGA etc.

This is a cabinet card size photo which has been trimmed top and bottom removing photographers name.  7 button blouse with 2 cuff buttons,  1890's style hat has an EGA on it that looks to have a bar or something else below it.  Looking for comments please.  Thanks.

Yes, you are right .  I can see that now with a magnifying glass.  Also, believe the cuff buttons number 3 and not 2.  Found another image like it and it was ID'd 1890-1900 or thereabouts.  Thanks.

1897 cap which means it has a posthole. Most likely your EGA has a post on it, but early on they still utilized prong EGAs that were in inventory at the Depot.
