I'm new here. I'm just trying to find connections to men or families of men that might have been with my dad. He was in the 726 in camp Crowder in the early 1940s and eventually ended up at Okinawa. He past away in 1982 . Both my parents have now past. I never heard my dad talk about his army days but it was a significant part of his life. If this sparks interest in someone please reply, thank you!

Hi, welcome to the forum!

It sounds like he was served in the Signal Corps branch of the US Army. There was an Army Signal Corps Museum, but the last I heard is that it shut down - apparently permanently as it lost it's home. I believe the former Camp Crowder may be partially in use by the Missouri National Guard, perhaps they have some information on the base history, but I doubt it.

However you are in luck -at least partly! Many of the Camp Crowder official photos are online, I posted the link here: https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/242621-knots-about-nets-helmet-nets-at-camp-crowder/

I did post a few scans from a booklet I have here: https://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/304301-camp-base-t-shirts/

Thank you rusty that was great. I have many letters my dad wrote to my mom and his mother that I need to read that will help me understand more. I also have many many letters from other servicemen because my dad participated in organizing reunions. So many names and his has an HQ in front of it. The reunion newsletter is called the pelican. 726th mp battalion ww2aasoc
