LE LOUP DES MERS Posted January 9, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 9, 2022 I was at a gun show today and picked up this knife for $5. I don't know much about it except what I researched/what the owner told me. This knife dates to the civil war and apparently was made for buffalo hunters. I was told it was manly used for skinning buffalo and was told some soldiers carried these during the civil war. The grips I was told are not original but are real wood and we're replaced sometime during the 1900s. Other then that I don't know much about it. The makers stamp is kina hard to see in photo but says: I.wilson sycamore st Sheffield England.

LE LOUP DES MERS Posted January 9, 2022 Author Share #3 Posted January 9, 2022 Yeah, what I read online it was manly used for skinning animals, the main animal it was used on was buffalo. But, at first I thought it was a prison shank lol until the owner/a couple of people at the gun show told me the history behind the knife.
