anjoucollector Posted January 3, 2022 Share #1 Posted January 3, 2022 Hello, I have this badge representing the coat of arms of the 26th Infantry Regiment, but I know it is not the regimental DUI. No maker's marks.
Allan H. Posted January 3, 2022 Share #2 Posted January 3, 2022 I believe that this may be one of the DUIs made by Koepnick or Aresta. These two, along with Bora, all made DUIs for collectors. Koepnick and Aresta made a lot of "fantasy pieces" for collectors, veterans' groups, etc. Some were based on TIOH drawings, or from a unit stationery, unit signs,, etc. Some were just designs dreamed up by the sellers. These crests were made in the 1970's and 80's, though they could date even later. Is there a maker's mark on the back of the insignia? Aresta put hallmarks on the backs of his- they will usually say Aresta or Aresta of Hawaii. I believe he also used CWA (?) markings. Koepnick did not use any markings that I recall. Bora was having the firms that made the originals make runs of old insignia. These will often be marked with the original manufacturer's markings, but often will show a number letter code etc. Allan
tredhed2 Posted January 3, 2022 Share #3 Posted January 3, 2022 Bonjour Allan H. is correct. It is in fact made in Korea by Koepnick for collectors. NEVER made for nor worn by the unit. Bora's also were CB rather than PB or SB. Au revoir
