This WW2 front seam helmet is painted black, as is its liner. Does anyone know why this may have bene done? Was its the practice for a certain branch of the US military in WW2, or after? Thanks

British homefront helmets were often painted black as well. Not sure about the significance though or any possible links with what you have.
