daswrack Posted December 29, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 29, 2021 i probably wont get this one, but for my future reference, i have an early 1980s ERDL helmet cover that i am looking for a shell for, i found this one on ebay, with a crack on the back thats been welded, its mildly malformed, which is extentuated by the angle the photo is taken at, it looks like the korean war paint style (?) and 1980s style chinstraps, would such welding be done in field ever? what are your general thoughts on such a pot? Paddyd00 Posted December 29, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 29, 2021 Probably not an expensive piece so the whacky paint and bad condition doesn’t really matter if you are just throwing a modern era cover on it. No biggie imo. These later M1s can be bought by the bushel full in lots for a couple hundred bux and are very common items. I wouldn’t think too hard on it.
