FT.Monmouth1943 Posted December 27, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 27, 2021 Here is a Purple Heart grouping that was from LT George A M c G o w a n who was KIA on November 7, 1943 in Italy as a part of A Co, 1st BN, 30th IR, 3rd ID. Included in the group is the named Purple Heart, photos of LT M c G o w a n (appears to be enlisted at this point), photos of his grave, photos of his brothers, and a letter from one of his brothers giving an account of George’s service (the letters he mentions have been lost to time). He also received the Silver Star in Sicily, but I do not have his award.
