72psb Posted December 23, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 23, 2021 Oak seems to be classic choice for display cases. Any composite like fiber board, plywood, MDF,all use adhesive that may off gas.

conn Posted January 5, 2022 Share #6 Posted January 5, 2022 here is a thought i use barrister bookcases they are well built to hold weight, i have sanded and repaired them, and apply finish to my taste they are cheaper than buying glass, wood , hardware and your labor. the price goes from 30 dollar a section, i have found them cheaper at garage sales they come in different heights, and widths and depths and different types of woods they keep the dust off and can be stacked to whatever height you want look for the old ones, not the modern type just a thought check out craigs list for them good luck
