collector Posted December 11, 2021 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2021 Can anyone help with a date on LC 13129 and LC 13306 (I think) both marked on bandoleers. Thanks Link to comment
silverplate Posted December 11, 2021 Share #2 Posted December 11, 2021 Korean War era. Last LC lot number produced in WWII was #12965. Also, carbine ammo in bandoleers did not appear until Korea. All WWII carbine rounds were boxed. Link to comment
917601 Posted December 11, 2021 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2021 Pictures of the bandolier and ammo would be nice. The bando packaging tells a story also. Link to comment
collector Posted December 11, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted December 11, 2021 Unfortunately no cartridges with these. The second bandoleer has the date on the back, I thought that the more khaki looking OD color on the first one might indicate it's older but maybe they were left over from WW2? Good to know that carbine ammo was boxed before Korea. Link to comment
917601 Posted December 11, 2021 Share #5 Posted December 11, 2021 The lighter khaki colored one looks like WW2 issue due to the color and strap thickness/weave. Link to comment
917601 Posted December 11, 2021 Share #6 Posted December 11, 2021 Keep in mind millions were made, huge quantities were made, unused ones from WW2 were stored obviously unmarked and the rule was the lot numbers were inked on when the bandoliers were filled with ammo. Huge amounts of WW2 bandoliers were used in Korea and even later. I have seen a few were the old identifying inking was X’d out next to the new set of markings. Link to comment
collector Posted December 13, 2021 Author Share #7 Posted December 13, 2021 Ok that fits with my thoughts. It's nice to have both OD versions. Thanks for the info. Link to comment
