Armored Unit Markings on Liner?

Looking for some help with this helmet liner. This was found under a layer of paint. All hand painted and cracking throughout. I know I have seen similar markings on helmets on this very forum, but I can’t seem to find the threads. Could this be the 65th Armored Artillery Battalion? Otherwise I am at a loss. Thank you in advance for the help.

Think ya’ hit the nail on the head, seems there was a 65th armored field artillery battalion attached to the third armored division until 1957, bet that’s your unit!

Sweet looking painted liner!

I’d try to avoid putting it in and taking out of helmet shells a lot, might hurt the paint job.

That's right, when the 3rd Armored Division was a training division at Fort Knox Kentucky in the late 40s mid 50s, with this one as it has the Yellow and Green Triangles probably dates after 1950-51 when these colors, the new Armor Branch Colors are adopted.

Drill Sergeants and Cadre Instructors of the 3rd Armored Division at Ft Knox Kentucky in 1949 when the division was a training division, here we see two triangles, one, the dark one, probably Dark Green with White border and lettering seems to give the Combat Command, the other one, probably the reverse White with Dark Green border and lettering, gives sub unit, here on one or two of them, 83rd Cavalry Reconnaissance Squadron of them (the Armored Force branch colors, Dark Green and White, the solid Yellow of Armor not out yet, as the branch wasn't established just yet).

I new this E8, his first name was Cock.  Just kidding,  I really like these WWII liners with all their postwar unit decals painted on them.

Great information and photo’s patches!

Funny enough I have an M1 rifle manual belonging to a gentleman with the same last name.
