Piel's Beer crate with bottles

I purchased this from a guy in Italy.  He said it was in a barn since the war.  Not sure if the bottles in the crate were all brown or clear originally.  Most still have their labels.  Makes me want to get a Pilsner out right now.

Very nice. I have a similar box from Budweiser. No bottles though.

Very neat! Interesting that there is a mix of clear and brown bottles. Generally, beer is in brown bottles. Wartime substitute? Is the date legible in person?
