ghengus Posted November 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 30, 2021 I went all out on this one and paid up at an online auction. I am glad I did. EARLY FS FB set all named to Myles A Spencer. He served with the marines mainly with the 9th Defense Battalion from Guadalcanal through the Solomon’s and Guam only to get attached to the 3rd Marine Div for Iwo Jima. I can’t say for certain that this helmet was there, but it certainly has the look. I especially love the the hand painted overpaint likely done in the field. Both the liner and shell are named to him. Came with a nice USMC dated and tagged shirt, two pairs of pants, garrison covers, belt and blanket, plus the original newspaper clipping, all named to him. This will be one of my centerpieces for years to come. Honored to be able to share this one.

ArchangelDM Posted December 1, 2021 Share #5 Posted December 1, 2021 Looking at your helmet and seeing the wear and type of paint used, it’s very consistent with several sets I have. In my opinion this was his helmet used on the islands nice find and congratulations , it will display beautifully yours Dean
