It's an exceptionally detailed and thorough study of the US Army organization in the 1919-1941 interwar years including line art of the authorized SSI/DUI.  Published in 2010 by the US Army Combined Arms Center.  Every arm, service & organization is covered in minute detail.

In deed this reference for the interwar years is invaluable.  Only a couple of quirks but other than that it is a solid source.
