Just about done with this VFA-103 JHMCS. The Display unit is a resin copy. The helmet is original JHMCS HGU-55. This was a commission build. The Display Unit and mask are mine. Helmet will be joining a private collection. FEAR THE BONES

Those JHMCS shells are pretty hard to find.   Great tape job but almost makes me sad seeing it leave its plain ole AF grey shell being an actual shell and not replica.  One of my friends gave me a brand new neutral grey lens for those, un cut.  He got it when he was at the F-16 school house at Luke and never needed it.

Awesome job. Really like your work. Did you learn to tape helmets on your own?

I cruised with VF-84 Tomcats on the Teddy Roosevelt in the early 90s. Sad to see them (VF-84) go away and then the Sluggers of VF-103 were re-named the Jolly Rogers.

Self taught with advice from good collector friends and former Navy. And thats awesome! Any photos from your flight deck days?

I have some pics on the flight deck. Not very exciting though.

I was with an A-6E squadron and shared deck space with VF-84 during the late 80s and early 90s. Here are a few pics from that time frame. Most of these pics are from Desert Storm.

Wonderful! Nice job taping it up.

What is your technique for taping? I've seen a riggers needle used and give it a really nice slight overlap that won't gap out in warmer/direct sunlight conditions.
