Hey there gents,

I’ve had this helmet for awhile and I was hoping y’all might be able to shed some light on manufacture and time frame?

I know the cover is original, but the graffiti is most likely not (I’m thinking Forest Gump?).

I couldn’t find a single stamp/marking on the shell. Chin straps are Velcro which is interesting.

I’d bet the shell is US manufactured by the shape of the bail mounts, but there are some euro clones which use the same ones.  Chinstraps are unlike what I’ve ever seen and are certainly not USGI.  Cover looks good but I’m weary of that graffiti.

Liner is post ‘75 style with a sweatband dated 1980.

Not sure if you’ve looked into it but it’s not hard to find the date of the cover.

I’ll definitely take a second look at the cover for the date.

would really like to nail down the liner as a few thought it might be

“Lovely ww2 schlueter shell. Loops attached right up to the rim, nice three pronounced spot welded on the loop holders, rear seam, manganese rim and two round spot weld by the seam. A schlueter shell in the 430-560 lot range. Look closely there is a heat stamp in there somewhere. Start by the brim/visor. Maybe post a couple of closeup inside images, maybe others can spot the lot number. Thanks for sharing 👍
