ChrisG43 Posted November 27, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 27, 2021 I picked this up in a large lot of items recently, and really don't have an idea what it is...was wondering if someone could give me an idea of what it was used with? I'm guessing early 60's/late 50's?
RWW Posted November 27, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 27, 2021 You have what later became the MA-1 survival kit container. It is an early 1950's era seat kit that was used in several different aircraft of the era. If you want to part with it, I am interested.
RWW Posted November 27, 2021 Share #3 Posted November 27, 2021 That should be MD-1 not MA-1.
RWW Posted November 27, 2021 Share #4 Posted November 27, 2021 To give you a little more of an answer on what it was used with, a 1955 base assembly of survival kits manual says the kits are intended for use with standard back and chest style parachutes, and are designed to fit standard ejection seats of fighter and bomber aircraft and all standard bucket style seats. In other words, it was a standard kit that fit just about everything at the time. The components placed in it depended on the climate it was used in, Hot, Temperate, Cold, or Very Cold.
