all1knew Posted November 22, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2021 Hey guys. Picked this up in a group of other misc items. Can anybody date what era this Legion of Merit is produced? Is it a World War 2 era example?
jmar Posted November 22, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2021 Hello all1, I'm sure it's not a WW II piece, the white enamel in the stars are too small, plus the ribbon drape has a wider white stripe than WW II examples. WW II examples have the "hook and eye" clasp as well and most were numbered on the back of the suspension loop. The legs of the cross are not beveled (tapered), so it's not a Balfour strike either. My best guess would be later Lordship strike, probably 1970-1990. A nice clean piece though! Best wishes, Joe WW II example
