Not exactly, his name is  Arthur W. Countryman and he did serve in the Navy in the 1920s, joined up when he was 14, born 1907, served we imagine for a few years, was discharged, went home to Illinois where he was from and reenlisted in his local National Guard in Illinois, unit a 33rd Division unit, unit unknown, and stayed in. In 1940 when his unit was federalized, he evidently was transferred out at one point, he ultimately is in the 12th Infantry 4th Infantry Division as a Platoon Sergeant, a Technical Sergeant, and here is when he's Killed in Action in early November 1944, but he was never seen again or his body recovered, so he was posted as Missing, He must of been either buried by some one, or was unfortunately left where he fell, in an untraveled out of the way spot in the forest all these years because on June 14, 2021 the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced that his remains had been discovered and identified and accounted for. He had been returned to his family and was laid to rest in his hometown at Plainfield Township Cemetery Illinois.

RIP Sailor/Soldier! Very often, experienced National Guard troops were offered rank to transfer in to new units to help raise up the new soldiers. Great photos.
