W. Hefley Posted November 16, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 16, 2021 Alright everyone, this is a new one that I just added to the collection. A fellow collector believes the markings are from a USMC Amtrak unit. Just curious if anyone has seen something like this or knows what exactly the insignia means… thanks in advance! Kadet Posted November 16, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 16, 2021 My guess was Texas Tech University. Perhaps an ROTC color guard helmet.

W. Hefley Posted February 1 Author Share #4 Posted February 1 Here’s an update! Apparently, the TTU means, “Tank Training Unit”. I have a picture of the sign I found. Here is a USMC knapsack with an upside down triangle stenciled on. The knapsack was definitely used by a Marine Tanker!

Kadet Posted February 2 Share #6 Posted February 2 The picture you posted is of an Army unit I believe, based on the fact that it was taken in Germany. Sorry, but I still think it is a Texas Tech University ROTC color guard helmet.
Bugme Posted February 3 Share #7 Posted February 3 The wide stripe across the top in indicative of training units. That is not necessarily saying it is a training helmet nor am I saying it is ROTC. Just pointing out the use of a wide painted stripe.
elh1311 Posted February 3 Share #8 Posted February 3 It was not uncommon for Marines to go to the Army's Armor School simply because the demands for armor in the Marines were not enough to justify their own Armor school.
