He served with the 374th Fighter Squadron as Crew Chief on one of the craft. Later, he served in the USAF with bomber aircraft thru the 50's and into the 60's. My first thought was it is some sort of external fuel tank release lever but I really don't know. Any ideas? It is 2 inches across and made of aluminum. Thank you.
