UNKNOWN 57 POUNDER WIEGHT CANNON BALL

My brother and i have this cannon ball looks to be pre civil war period, it's been 20 years sense we dug it up on top of a hill in the woods of our property that we own, the area is called dodge run that takes off of dodds run, semi famous of which indians at that time had chased and killed white settlers through the wooded valley to hunt them down. anyway the ball is 57lbs very heavy i have known about it beign up that hill 30 years prier i thought it was only a yard ornament. measurements are 24 inch circumferance 7. 5 in width we think it's british but no sure
