usmedalman Posted November 9, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 9, 2021 I am going through the rolls for Revenue Cutters used in the Span-Am war and have two ratings which I cannot decipher: O.M. and Or. Mr. As a whole there doesn't seem to be an official standard for abbreviations of ratings and online references for the RCS that I have been able to find have not been helpful. I am hoping that one of you experts will be able to help.
Justin B. Posted November 9, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 9, 2021 That's a tough one. Is it possible that it's Q.M. and Qr. Mr. for quartermaster? Otherwise I'm stumped.

Otherwise I'm stumped. That was my thought, but there is a Q.M. on the same cutter, USRC Morrill, so I kind of eliminated that thinking, why would someone use three different abbreviations in preparing the same roll.
