I bought this helmet at an antique store. The previous owner stropped the paint from the in side. I looked for a stamp number. Does any one know if I have a helmet with out a heat stamp or is it a European clone. Thanks for the help

I suspect the method it was stripped removed whatever stamp there was, but there’s a chance you just missed it.  Nevertheless you’re not missing a huge amount, we can gauge it’s a Mccord shell thanks to the crimp and a rough period of manufacture. (FSSB’s we’re made from late 1943-1945)

From what I see, looks like you’ve got a good helmet- pop a liner in and good to go.

I entertain the idea that some WW2 shells might have the stamp located on the outside, or even not have a stamp at all. With +20 mill shells, certainly sheer statistic speaks for it. Just never seen either.

You have a Mccord front seam shell, with stainless rim and stainless movable loops. Does not look to have dimples (from lot 622 shell do not have dimples). Assuming, I cannot see it, the movable loop are not new attached, your shell will have a lot in the range 794-1130.

Looks like your stamp is here. Looks like an 8 and some other number in front.
