Black Westinghouse M1 helmet liners with dual decals 3d Division

I picked up a trunk full of headgear this week, including a Westinghouse liner painted black with two decals for the 3rd Infantry Division. In rsearching it I found a couple others just like it online (both also Westinghouse),  and each having two decals. One of them has a warrant officer bar on it and mine looks like it also had a Lt or WO bar on it.

Mine is the 3rd Infantry Division with Rock of the Marne decal on the left side. It is named, but I have found anyone with that name in the 3rd.

I wonder if someone was in making these in bulk for reunion association members? The nape strap on mine says 1945 and whomever made these three probably snapped up an unused batch of Westinghouse liners at war's end. That's my guess.

So here's some details on the 3rd liner the name seems to be Robert Gautier

Very nice collection of liners Bob, I don’t think there is much money in faking them.

Just got a helmet collection myself recently and I have at least 2 liners with decals, Ill post them in the next couple days.

A 511th Westinghouse jump liner with decals and it was a glossy green with decals.

it’s posted in the helmet section.

For the dope on the 30th Infantry, see post #658 below, your liner we'll bet dates from the time the 30th Infantry was back with the 3rd Division, either at Fort Benning or West Germany in the 50s into the 60s.

Yes late 50s till early 1970, II Corps inactivated sometime in 1970. the other decal may be a 1st Army one, 1st Army had reserve units under it located in NYC, and Jersey, and when II Corps was reactivated these reserve units now came under II Corps.

If you're interested take a look at this PINNED Topic on Liners.

This has been answered by another forum member a few days ago. It's from the Massachusetts Military Academy.

It would be more beneficial for you to start your own thread on this specific liner.

yeah but anyway thank you for the help and why i didn’t start my own thread  because it was that simple  from a member and it would’ve been pretty stupid to make My own thread  of something that was found almost a couple hours after I made the post.

Does anyone know when these black liners were being used?  Are there pictures of them being used in parades, garrison, etc?

50s into the 60s.

See Post #3 above for photos in use.

Thanks I see helmets from the Berlin Bde in 3 but I don’t see any actual links or pictures of them being worn.  I have a 2AD liner and I cannot find any pictures of use at Ft Hood, so was wondering if it was a 2AD forward thing in Germany. Regards
