manayunkman Posted November 4, 2021 Share #1 Posted November 4, 2021 These helmets were a recent find from a dilapidated garage. The M1C has 2 chin cups and is identified on the shell and Westinghouse liner. The 30th Division helmet has the unit painted on the front and scratched into both sides but the liner is damaged with only a remnant left. The man’s son, who’s dad wore the M1C, and said his dad was in WW2 and brought home the M40 which I doubt. I think the father was stationed in Europe after the war and got the M40 then. I haven’t had the time yet to research the name. Amy comments are welcome

Bugme Posted November 5, 2021 Share #10 Posted November 5, 2021 Awesome find and helmets but, you're right, the RA in front of the serial number gives it away as 1950's.

Thanks. Are the brass buckles on the A yokes a sign of post war? The paint is also post war.
CWG Posted November 5, 2021 Share #12 Posted November 5, 2021 Fantastic finds, manayunkman I wanted to send you a message on a question I had about a helmet. I tried to but the system said you were not receiving messages is there any other way I could contact you? Appreciate it.

herrgeezer Posted January 2, 2022 Share #24 Posted January 2, 2022 Regardless of condition, these are a special find for you I'm sure. I love the 30th Division painted insignia helmet. I've never had the good fortune to find any helmet at a garage sale. Congratulations! 👍
manayunkman Posted January 16, 2022 Author Share #25 Posted January 16, 2022 Great find for this day and age but not at a yard sale. We were called in to do a house clean out and they were found in a semi collapsed garage.
