Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted November 3, 2021 Share #2 Posted November 3, 2021 Interesting, looks to be the back to this vest you shared?
Cap Camouflage Pattern I Posted November 3, 2021 Share #3 Posted November 3, 2021 The front view appears to be a standard M1955 or M-52 body armor, while the back view does appear to be different, although its hard to tell how with the experimental load bearing vest over it. Also the Marine in the rear view is using a BAR, I wonder if the load carrying vest had snap-on pouches like the later ~1960 vest. From A brief History of the 8th Marines by James S. collector Posted November 4, 2021 Author Share #4 Posted November 4, 2021 Hey thanks, I'll put your post with the cruise book! It must be the back of the other vest I first posted, great to actually get some info. Had another look through the book, saw no other shots of any unusual vests.
