varifleman Posted October 30, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 30, 2021 Here is my Springfield Armory US Army 1911 .45ACP pistol serial number 107382 made in 1914. Closeups show "S" marking for Springfield Armory on slide lock and thumb safety and "S P" on barrel lug.
GWS Posted October 30, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 30, 2021 Nice looking pistol! Does it have the Springfield folded and welded magazine?

ottodog8 Posted October 31, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2021 Nice Springfield. Could just be the pics, but it appears to be refinished. The Springfield eagle is missing from the slide, probably removed during refinishing. Still a nice piece, mine is only 200 numbers away.
GWS Posted October 31, 2021 Share #5 Posted October 31, 2021 Thanks for the additional photos. A real plus that it has an original S.A. magazine. Another tidbit of info--The front sight on the S.A. pistols is integral to the slide. Colts used the staked in front sight.
MWalsh Posted November 1, 2021 Share #6 Posted November 1, 2021 I think you can make out the remnants of the eagle on the right side of the slide. Too bad it got removed, as its such an iconic "martial" symbol. I agree, refinished and newer grips. But still a very nice pistol over all, and usually pretty tough to find in any condition. Spathologist Posted November 9, 2021 Share #7 Posted November 9, 2021 Congratulations, SA 1911s are not that common. I have 107524, 142 away from yours, procured on 5 June 1915 according to Clawson.
