It's neat to see that soldiers back then understood the importance of the Founding Fathers during the Civil War  Comm. Sgt. Benjamin Plummer of the 8th Illinois Cavalry sent these leaves home to his parents from the George Washington's tomb while stationed in Alexandria, Virginia in 1861.
