Vietnam Era M51 Jacket w/ERDL Poncho Liner

Here is an M51 jacket I have that I think is pretty interesting. I believe it’s from the Vietnam War and it has been heavily tailored. The whole inside is lined with an ERDL poncho liner, and the sleeves have been shortened to mid-forearm. I’ve seen that mod on jungle jackets and OG-107s before, but not on an M51. Either this guy wanted to cool his arms off, or he had very short arms. Another interesting thing is that it appears that the entire jacket was taken apart and resewn. Nearly all of the thread looks like it was redone by the tailor who put in the poncho liner.

Hope you all enjoy, and if you want to see more photos feel free to ask.

Thanks! I thought the lack of Velcro on the collar and no zipper for the hood made it an M51, but with all the alterations made to the jacket I’m not surprised it’s an M65.

No, the M-1951 has a pointed collar and no hood.
