2AD_Vet Posted October 19, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2021 I was kicking around a junk store this weekend and saw this knife in a display cabinet. I purchased it fo $40 bucks mainly because it was marked US and was an Imperial which is what some of my WW2 bayonets are marked with. Looking at the web, I see lots of Camilius marked knifes, but don't seem to see many Imperial knives Is Imperial somewhat rarer? Did I get hosed paying $40 for it? Seems in good shape and I like it so no harm done even if I did overpay LOL What is the story on the Imperial marked knives?
Charlie Flick Posted October 19, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 19, 2021 Nice Imperial there. It looks like it is a 1976 dated version from the ricasso marking. You did fine on the price. Yes, Camillus was by far the largest supplier of these knives to the US military. Be aware that Camillus and the other makers also sold identical versions on the civilian market. Here is an older thread that will give you some further details on the Imperial MIL-K-818 knives. Charlie
