postmanusnac Posted October 19, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 19, 2021 I’m pretty excited to add this cutdown to S/Sgt Harold J Tatro. His service in WW2 began in April 1942 when he enlisted from Taunton, Mass. He would serve with the 77th Div overseas in the Eastern Mandates and Southern Philippines ( Navy muster rolls show him onboard LSM-40 for invasion operations into Leyte) campaigns before being wounded in the hand in January 1945. He would return stateside in April and be given a medical discharge that October. What is interesting about Harold Tatro is his service prior to WW2 and the Massachusetts state archives was kind enough to send me his record. He original enlisted in the US Army and served from 1923-28. After a four year break he enlisted in the MA NG in 1932, where he would serve until being discharged in 1940. His service included the following units: July 1923 - July 1926 : Btry D, 10th FA Jan 1927 - May 1928 : Btry E, 15th FA Feb 1932 - Feb 1940 : Btry F, 101st FA As an added bonus he was present when Btry F took their picture for the 1939 MA NG yearbook! Harold passed away in 1992 and is buried in Taunton, MA.
