collector Posted October 18, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 18, 2021 I suspect these were made for the 1917, I can fit one on my '03. Tried to add to firearms ref but no dice.
Rhscott Posted October 21, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 21, 2021 Nice covers. Patterned after the Brit 1907 SMLE covers.

GWS Posted October 24, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 24, 2021 You are correct-they were in fact made for the '17. According to Brophy they were called the "Model of 1917 Breech Cover" and listed as such until 1928. He goes on to say that in order to avoid having two covers in the system during WW1, the one cover was made"to do" for both rifles. He also states that over 4 million were ordered for the 1917-18 period and most of that order were delivered! There should be more of these out there but they seem to be rather scarce these days. Nice condition covers! Thanks, Steve
