Masterjo Posted October 17, 2021 Share #1 Posted October 17, 2021 I have a condiment tin, and soon I'll have a bacon tin as well, but I don't know how to remove all this plaque. tried soaking in vinegar overnight, and even steel wool to no success, I'm at a loss on how to get it off, any ideas or methods that have proven successful? Bluehawk Posted October 18, 2021 Share #2 Posted October 18, 2021 It looks to be tin plated steel... if by "plaque" you are referring to the dark areas on each piece? That won't "come off." I suppose there could be a way to re-tin the cans... to make the surfaces uniform silvery.
GLCC74 Posted October 18, 2021 Share #3 Posted October 18, 2021 Unfortunately, these old cans are tin plated, and that wears off from use and age. If you are looking for a pristine example, there are some still out there.
eaglerunner88 Posted October 31, 2021 Share #4 Posted October 31, 2021 Yeah clean examples can still be had for $20-25. Might save you a lot of trouble haha
